and the 1st Giveaway Winner is....
oh the burden it must be to manage hundreds of comments. so new to blogging i feel lucky to have so few. only 6 names to write down on the paper. only 6 numbers to cut into little squares and place in a bowl.
o.k. Ryan Seacrest get on with it.
the winner is............sbonetsue............& she/he will have to reveal themselves....otherwise where will i send their prize.
i wonder....will i have more comments....for the 2nd drawing on 4/30....or the 3rd drawing on 5/4....or is this all there is.

Woman Shop Eat
seeking my purple Rose & Hubble fabric for my Little Bits of Purple quilt i decided to check out another LQS that i don't go to often. after not finding my fabric on my way home it occurred to me that near two of my LQS are very famous eating spots. nothing fancy here. they're both come as you are. Quilting By The Yard in Vernon has Rein's Deli. and Colchester Fabric Mill in Colchester has Harry's Place. if you're ever in Connecticut shopping for fabric and you are hungry you should check out these two places. the Reuben at Rein's. the Lobster Roll & french fries at Harry's. yummy!

Sew Baby Girl
my niece's teacher's wife had a baby boy recently and she wanted to knit him a blanket. i convinced her that sewing one would be quicker. she did everything. shopping - measuring - cutting - pinning - sewing - turning inside out - poking out the corners - pinning the edges - ironing the edges - marking where the quilting dots would be - sewing the quilting dots - the enjoyment of no hands needed. she programmed the TO FROM YEAR and ran it along the edge where i hand sewed the opening. she was very excited and i was very proud.

Squares 182 Triangles 0
i still get a lot of oohs & aahs from squares & rectangles. my friends & family may not even realize that i don't pick projects with triangles in them. i am involved in two monthly meetings at my LQS in which i have to make them. they are not my favorite but i am determined to get better. until then i will sew these 182 squares together and bow to the applause.

Yoga Boot Camp
i survived week one of Yoga Boot Camp. 14 weekdays in a row. 2 winters w/o a plan. drowning in a pool of self-pity. what else could i do. guaranteed to drop a dress size. i have not weighed myself to get a before # but after camp if i can zip up last yr.'s summer shorts w/o as much hanging over i will consider it a success. one of the guys in the class asked if he would also drop a dress size. the answer of course was yes. no pics. before class i am very tired & confused. after class i am a really sweaty ball of blubber. the instructor says i am glowing. sweating is very good for your skin. i am happy to get two days off.

Little Bits of Purple
have you seen the quilt on pg. 90 of this book? Last-Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts. i found a purple Rose & Hubble print on sale but there was only 2 1/2 yds. the pattern calls for 4 1/4 yds. so i decided to downsize it. but when i got home i wanted to make the full size. turns out that this fabric is not made anymore. and ebay has a few pieces at very high prices. what do i do? what do i do? i guess i'm going to vist a few of the closer LQS in the area to see if more can be found. the first bit on the left will go on the back. but back to the book. yes back to the book. if you need to buy a gift for someone who loves to sew. this is the book you should get. Last-Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts. by Joelle Hoverson. all of the projects are beautiful. Joelle can also be found here and here.

Love Heart Home
my sister found me a gigantic bowl at the thrift shop.
it's just like the one she recently found for her fishie.
mine looks bigger but they are exactly the same size - 10 1/2" x 10 1/2" x 6 1/2".
this is my niece's goldfish checking out my new project.
and, this is my goldfish turning his behind on his old home.
i think he's very pleased with the improvement.

Tinkerbell Times Two
my sister has a sister-in-law who "always-wanted-to-make-a-quilt-but-doesn't-have-a-sewing-machine". she did all the shopping but needed help to start. sounds like a job for me. so after Christmas i offered to come over bring my machine and see how it goes. once a week for about 9 weeks we met (if you're counting the weeks on the calendar i got sick one week & she the week after). finally before Easter we finished the quilt tops w/o borders. the little ones were home on Good Friday so i snapped their happy faces.
