here is my 2nd set of blocks for Rachel's quilt along.all my fabrics were begging for their own block. but i made them share.

Starscape

didn't expect to fall this far behind.must catch up before another package arrives in my mailbox.

Potholder Pass 1

very pretty potholders and magnets made for me by JenWith.and this is what i made for SewMyLife.these are my first potholders and already know that i don't like using 2 layers of insul-batting. any advice? Potholder Pass 2 begins soon. of course i couldn't help including small knitted things.and if you have time check out my very-first-flickr-mosaic.

pinwheel sampler quilt along : block one.

here is my 1st set of blocks for Rachel's quilt along.only using these four prints. Ginger Blossom flannel. i know that flannel will get bulky. but i am ready to accept what comes. the binding is a pink stripe. cotton. this is my all-time-favorite combination. two layers of flannel. no batting. tied. cotton binding. zig-zig. machine stitched. zag-zag. and if the pinwheels get extremely small i will find another cotton to help out.

AQB1 - for Vanessa

this is my block for Vanessa. she likes traditional star patterns. and said we could choose.just as i was about to cut alternating green and stripe points. i hesitated and fell in love with the green fabric. chartreuse and olive. worried i would end up with a plain star. i remembered the accent squares placed in between the points in this block.before you trim it looks like this. what a great place to do some fussy cutting.

AQB1 - for Dallas

this is my block for Dallas. her blog is For The Journey. the idea for her quilt came from a beautiful photograph she took of trees.luckily for us she put together a tutorial. i love everything about her quilt idea. although initially intimidated by the pattern. it's really easy. and i am very happy with my block.

Basic Black

it still goes with everything.a little blurry. but she likes this next picture. who am i to say it's not a good one.except for using a smaller needle. i did think i followed the pattern as is. but i see here that i worked an extra section.too late now. it's already been delivered and declared finished.

Jenny's January Challenge

the challenge this month was to make something useful out of a teatowel.i specifically made this for my Ikea daybed. it's where i watch t.v. do hand-sewing. and my knitting. lots of bed pillows make it comfy. but also create places for little things to get lost. if only for just a few minutes.i used 2 teatowels to make my organizer and it has 12 very useful pockets.

Madeline

just a bit of romantic pretty to brighten up my cold cold January.Darla by Tanya Whelan. 6 half yard cuts from Quilt Taffy. i like to buy more than i need. then there are big pieces left over to play with.at the last moment i changed my fabric choices from just the pink and red ones. to include the green. and although i am pleased with the outcome. let's just say. i-plan-to-make-this-one-again.it's on the smallish side and comes together fairly quickly.made star points using the geese ruler. i know. my ruler doesn't have the size we need. i followed directions for the one that finishes 1-1/2 in. x 3 in. and then trimmed it down.

Little Ruche

so a couple of days ago. my sister yells into the next room. tell Auntie Karen about the hat. of course i was thinking the little fashionista was gonna totally rip into my newest knitting. but what she said i was not expecting. i want one. that's what she said.my sister liked her birthday present very much.regular Ruche. Jo Sharp Alpaca Silk Georgette. #3 needles.

Bride's Bouquet

i couldn't remember which block was next. so while everyone was working on Sky Rocket i was working on this one.February is extra block month. March borders. April break. and in May we start our next quilt.

just an update on Part 1.
cut lots of small pieces.
sew brown triangles to background squares.
sew background triangles to brown squares.
arrange on design wall and sew to cheddar.

Kinda Like a Gift Receipt

i finished a present-to-be. early enough to tackle something to match.if ya wanna see me wearing it. tomorrow you can check here. i won't care if you forget. please forget.

Cheddar Cheese Anyone?

don't even say it. another quilt? why not. it's just a doll quilt. i picked these 12 brown Jo Morton prints when my LQS was having their sale. of course i only got 1/8 yard of each. that was really hard. but not impossible. i just knew something would come up and this is all i would need.cheddar. turkey. poison. i've been learning new lingo. but just a beginner. i might be taking a chance using this black & beige toile for the background. but when it comes to cheddar. the expert has suggested that this one is the best. just a measly 1/2 yard is on its way to me. that was also very hard. because they are having a sale on everything until January 15th. but i repeat not impossible. my plan while i wait was to cut sets. a set i decided was 2 squares and 4 triangles. and since it was suggested that we could use 36 scrap fabrics. i decided i should cut 3 sets from each brown print. and 36 sets from the background. the toile is by Faye Burgos for Marcus Brothers.

AQB1 - for Tascha

this is my block for Tascha aka Natasha aka Hanies. her blog is here but most of her work is on Flickr here. in particular you must see her doll quilt here. i wasn't even part of the doll swap. but for a time i was hoping she was gonna send it to me.she asked for a 16-1/2 in. block that was more of a quilt. so i knew i had to make 2 in. blocks. and i knew i had to piece them first.i had already started cutting and making before i did the math.
8 x 8 = 64 x 3 = well it's just too many!

Tuffets

got crushed walnuts for the inside. and this gorgeous hand-dyed wool for the backing. but in case i happen to fall asleep before the clock strikes tonight. or switch to my knitting. yep. knitting. and then falling asleep. sounds like a lovely way to end the year.Chelsea Boutique by Blackbird Design for Moda. i found 3 charm packs that i've had for-ever. and a few days ago i washed them. yep. after spending all of 2009 agonizing about whether i should not wash fabrics before using. i have decided to go back to washing everything. even charm packs. been missing my ritual of dumping it in the washer and waiting for the dryer to give me back my fabric just the way i like it.

Yesterday

reading my new book.
saw a great movie.
making quick progress on this.credits rolled with Only You beautifully sung by Sinead O'Connor.
