XIII thru XV or.... XIII thru I
please visit other participants listed here.in the deluxe papercover this is where Vol. I ends with 14 chapters and Vol. II begins with 20 chapters. my hardcover has 34 chapters. so mystery solved. not very believable that little Isabella would have written such a long letter to Nelly about her issues. but the narration must continue by any means possible. Heathcliff wants desparately to see Catherine. so i'm not sure how he is going to use Isabella to get back at Catherine for marrying Edgar. Lockwood speaks. letting us know that he is still the one who is hearing the story. but now he decides to tell the story using what Nelly has told him. what comes next is some pretty good drama written by Emily. although we've heard it all before. crazy in love. or just crazy.

This is good drama... but I think they're all just crazy!
I am eating it up. All of it. Cathy is so over-the-top but so is Heathcliff now! If I had to give out an award for the most wretched, I'm not sure who I'd give it to.
I just loved that letter, especially the beginning where she wonders if Heathcliff is a man. It totally cracked me up.
You're right, the crazy things we do for love. That scene between Heathcliff and Catherine was over the top (as reported by Nelly, if we trust her). On to the next chapters and more suspense...
I never understood why Catherine ever married. He never seemed like the right man for her nature but then again this was a girl who followed her whims without thinking of consequences.
