Humble Quilt's Doll Quilt Swap 2015

i was delighted to receive my quilt.
and see all the scrappy goodness packed into it.
it measures 20 in. by 12 in. and those 4 in. stars have different centers.

on the back is a pretty paisley print. a perfect choice.
included were some red white & blue fat quarters.
i have already washed them making them ready to use.

my quilt was made by Diane Knott of Butterfly Threads blog.
and she recently posted an adorable flag quilt block.
i think i could use my new fabric to make this. hmmm.

the quilt i made was sent to Karen Beigh of Log Cabin Quilter blog.
and she posted pictures of it here. take a look.
and the links of other quilts received by other participants are here.

a beautiful card. & one of my favorite cookies. how did she know.the cutest fabric basket.filled with all i need for a nice hot cup of tea.ooh. what a pretty set. i'll need that too.and some vintage fab for some good proper daydreaming.but it's also a fantastic apron.all my Tea goodies came from Jodi. thank you Jodi. if you get a chance to visit Jodi's blog This That and The Other you'll find she generously spends her time highlighting other blogs even showing all the nice things that they are doing and creating.

& another big thank you to Stephanie of Loft Creations for organizing this swap. here's what Stephanie sent. on the other side is a tea bag inside a little pocket. so cute.

Tea Pics

this is a teapot cake i made when my sister and i had a crystal party. found this idea in a magazine.then i made a teapot cake for Jessica's baby shower.here's that pic of all the teapot favors together.when Jessica and Anna were planning my sister's baby shower they asked me to do the cake. they told me to make it look like the watering can on the invitation.i think they were expecting a sheet cake. but i had experience in making a 3-D teapot. so i make an upright watering can.i would not recommend making this but here's a pic before assembling. my experience was like an episode of that cake making contest on t.v.the teapot cake was easier. put 2 bundt cakes together. make a template for sugar cookies. your template should include most of the cookie being pushed into the cake down to the plate so it won't fall over. i recommend making a few handles & spouts. pushing them into cake can cause them to break.need a cute centerpiece for your next party?

Tea Pics

i had to get one of these. no flash. no tripod. no commercial use. apparently blogging is o.k.the two small rooms were quite dark. so no complaining.i could have spent all day looking at these two beauties. but i would have needed a chair and extra batteries to snap every patch i wanted to.i did promise tea pics didn't i.the teapot was on the right side and i rotated once to the left. the teacup was high up and upside down.a simple web amongst all the fancy stuff. did i say simple. shame on me.this is for our friend Eileen.and this one too.i have pics of the other quilts. but that's enough for today. our museum is lovely and my friend treated me to Sunday Jazz Brunch in the museum cafe. the wine and the salmon cakes were delicious. thanks J.

Tea Pics

three little teapots i don't use for tea.the sewing machine teapot is just decorative. made by Cardew Design in England. bought years ago on QVC. i keep this on my mantle.

the striped teapot is one of those make-tea-for-one-combos. Jessica bought this for me xmas a few years ago. i used it then. but now i keep the jug part to add water to my iron. i love pretty things around me. plastic not so pretty.

the floral teapot is a baby shower favor that my sister Linda and i found at Christmas Tree Shoppe. they cost only $2.99. we bought about 16. the shower was at Anna's house. oh yeah. the shower was for Jessica. we set up little tables with tablecloths and centerpieces to resemble a tea shop. there were many designs for which we let everyone pick the one they wanted to take home. i liked this one. i use it sometimes. but mostly keep in cabinet next to my favorite cups and mugs.

Tea Pics

these are a few of my tea tools.my collection of Emma Bridgewater polka dot pieces. a sample baby mug. a dolly tea plate. a wall tile. a medium bowl. all from ebay. my mixture of teaspoons. an old teatowel. an amazing sweetener in agave nectar. my friend January the goldfish who is now one year old. i must remember to buy fish food today. he's been on a once a day feeding schedule for the past week and today we're out. almost everyone i know is getting sick. so i must recommend the tea i drink every winter. Gypsy Cold Care from Traditional Medicinals.

why the all-of-a-sudden interest in tea. well i'm in the Time For Tea Swap hosted by Stephanie of Loft Creations. this is my first swap. & Stephanie has gathered some tea related sewing links here. so even if you're not part of the swap. you can still sew some fun.

yesterday i recommended to a friend that if she wanted to make a valentine quilt. to pick valentine fabrics and participate in The Great Summer Holiday Mystery. today i'm going to recommend to make a tea quilt you just pick tea fabrics. i've already picked my fabrics. but i (of course) am tempted to start another one. it promises to be simple and for beginners. so it's not too late to start.

did anyone notice the coffee filters in the teabag bowl?
