WMGGS@DA?

i have a small workspace.
so i tear off small amounts (8 in. - 16 in.). iron. and start cutting.
i saved some ends and set aside for the binding.
before i make more grannies.
must do miscellaneous cutting.
not my favorite thing to do.
only highlighting how much background fabric is needed.
since my solid is really a print from the collection.
i was overjoyed to receive a coupon from FQS.
done and done.

Everyday Cardigan KAL

i seemed to have done what Lisa did.
drop 2 cardigans. to work on a pullover
so i will need to knit like crazy later to catch up.
i wish i had seen this yarn before and made a few hats.
but first it will be a pullover.

multi-colored yarn. hope i like it when it gets really big.

for today i only finished the yoke.

for more good stuff visit Lisa on her Polka Dot Cottage blog.

Everyday Cardigan KAL

if you can call it progress i added another rib section.
there are so many stitches at this point.
as promised here is a look at the back of the seed band.

on the front i put a purl stitch to separate the sweater from the band.
which on the back makes a line of knit stitches.
kinda resembles a sewn look when you make a facing.

i went ahead and purchased the Everyday Pullover pattern.
kept going back and forth between a cotton yarn and a wool yarn.
casting on today.

Everyday Cardigan KAL

a bit late posting this week.
as i had my own bit of trouble with the increases.
first without consulting the pattern i knit 3 rib sections.
only to discover i had skipped an increase row. maybe two of them.
next i thought my "increases with pf&b" were too lumpy.
i think Spud & Chloe Sweater yarn is just not a flat yarn
and this problem would not be an issue with other yarns.
but i chose it. for a good reason. so i must figure it out.
redid on knit side but increased with "make 1's".
found i did not like the way it seemed twisted.
redid on knit side again but worked "increases with kf&b".
not that clever of me. the pattern continues with this version.

all of this happened.
while i was waiting for another color to arrive.
i picked "rainstorm" and it is simply a perfect navy.
this one will have the pattern's seed stitch neckline.
you just can never know at this point which you will prefer later.
so i am just going to commit to both.

did you visit Lisa this week.
she started amd finished a pullover with cap sleeves.
i was excited to find the pattern is ready.
and plan to cast on a pullover soon.
and i would say yes to a cap sleeve version with buttons.

modifications:
making 2 sweaters.
one with rib at neckline.
one with seed at neckline.
6 stitches for the seed button band.
6 rows for the seed neckline.
extra 2 rows at neckline are just extra.
so i can start the pattern at row 1.
completed first increase one row earlier.
i did place a purl stitch between the sweater and the band.
will show you that next week.

Everyday Cardigan KAL

it's been ages since a sweater came off my needles.
usually i make something and then blog about it.
but i'd like to do this as i go. hello issues and modifications.
hopefully. i will end up with a sweater i can wear. so here goes.

things completed so far.
purchase pdf file of pattern only.
looked through stash because yarn you buy is yarn you like.
i certainly don't have enough to make a sweater.
Spud & Chloe in Sweater in Watermelon.
(50% organic cotton / 50% merino wool).
Juniper Moon Farms in Sabine in Limeade.
(30% royal llama / 30% merino wool / 40% cotton).
Brooklyn Tweed in Shelter in Hayloft.
(100% TARGHEE-COLUMBIA WOOL)

make a gauge. mine is awfully messy.
pick yarn.
going with Spud & Chloe Sweater.
it's not a winter-wooly yarn. feels perfect for Spring.
Sabine is soft and gorgeous.
Shelter is rustic and interesting.
i actually like all the yarns together.
but admit i have a problem with focusing on the task at hand.
i have used this yarn with #7 and #8 needles.
but a nice firm guage was achieved with #6 needles.

cast on.
well make sure you have circular needles to match your gauge.
i had to make an emergency run to the store.
10 rows done. and i have already made a few changes
that's right. the nerve of me.
modifications in the first 10 rows.

edited see 2/14 post.
i swapped out 4 rows of seed stitch for 6 rows of rib.
and i swapped out 6 rows of stockinette for 4 rows of stockinette.
and i added 2 stitches to each band.
i think i will make only slightly shorter arms.
and swap out the rib for seed stitch at the cuff.
and well why not just swap out the rib for seed stitch at the hem.
anything else Karen.
well i'm either buying more and finishing it up.
with the Watermelon color.
or dipping into my leftovers to make it stripey.
will decide after i finish the yoke.
i picked up 2 circular needles because i really want to make both.
and on the next perhaps i won't make any modifications.

Wishes Quilt Along

although i picked some happy Sweetwater fabric to make this quilt.
it will probably take me a few months to gather them together.
so i decided on these 10 fabrics i picked together over a year ago.
and using a chambray sheet i thrifted this summer.

Block 1 : Flying Kite.

S is for Stitch

when Temecula Quilting Co. offered a kit.
i probably purchased it for just the custom ruler box alone.
i'm still learning how to use that silly thread winder.
they don't have a kit anymore.
you can probably gather one on your own.
they are up to G. but i'm not going to catch up.
i washed and dried the Kona natural fabric they included.
and since my hoop is 6 in.
i was able to cut 24 7-1/2 in. x 8 in. squares.
the designs are small.
a smaller hoop will let you cut enough squares.
but i'll get more fabric.
because an alphabet quilt will need more than 24 squares.
and i might just be making some extra blocks.
i added my favorite Mark B Gone marker.
and did some tracing so i am ready.
if you have the book you can follow along. with me.
or with them on their Saturday Stitching posts.
and you should check out their other kits and monthlies.
and no hesitating. their stuff sells out quick.

Stitchie Love

i joined the For The Love Of Hand Embroidery group.
it is hosted by Jane of Jane's Fabrics blog.

today is:
the What Delilah Did blog and shop.
Delilah's book is called Storyland Cross Stitch.

ok. i'm not gonna lie. having it sent to me was a bit pricey.
but the book is gorgeous. and the designs are spectacular.
and if you have an itch to make something.
you can start with one of her pdf letters.
my first design was part-stitchie and part-cross-stitch.
and chose to mark a grid on the back and there mark the x's.

i consider this project not yet finished.
it's on the wall. see it there with Jane's threads.
but i could not find a 16 in. hoop so instead used an 18 in. hoop.
if i am able to find a very well made 16 in. one i will switch it out.

you really must take the time to visit What Delilah Did.
maybe it's one of Delilah's patterns i have picked!!
and it really is only a few more weeks until my turn.

Autumn Quilt Along

here i am pulling fabrics.
pretending to know what i am doing.
say hello to my center square.
it's not good to dilly-dally or hesitate.
you can use a random square you already have.
but i don't. so i made this one.

decided to jump on Lori's Autumn Quilt Along.
her quilt alongs are always small and interesting.
and fun trying to use fabrics you already have.
now i could Flickr or Instagram this.
but my blog could really use some activity.
kinda looks like i haven't made anything.
not true.

Stitchie Love

i joined the For The Love Of Hand Embroidery group.
it is hosted by Jane of Jane's Fabrics blog and starts today.
the highlights are that we can choose any pattern we want to.
and we should use Presencia thread.
if i have previously shown you any embroidery.
likely i had stated and used DMC thread.
so in addition to the fun of picking a pattern to share.
this will be my first experience with Presencia.
the schedule of participants can be found here.
my turn is not until the 2nd Monday of December.
but it begins with Jane herself and her post can be found here.
i thought i would keep you in the stitchie mood.
and share some of my favorite stitch designers.

today is:
Catherine's Bumpkin blog.
Catherine's Etsy shop.
Catherine's Facebook page.
Catherine's work has been included in this new book.
to celebrate this. until Wednesday midnight UK time.
Catherins here has a special offer.
i've gone ahead and purchased this one in Bluebell and Clover.
to see something i stitched by Catherine go here.
and i kinda sorta did blog about it here.

maybe it's one of Catherine's patterns i have picked!!

Deck-Ade The Halls Quilt Along

i wanted to tell you about this cute quilt along.
before it gets going much more.
but all i have are these starter pics i posted on Instagram.

sometimes i like to buy fabric as i go.
i say "i got this". and it turns out i don't.
works for monthly things.
not so much for anything faster.
but every other Monday is awesome and doable.

Fat Quarter Shop is celebrating 10 years in business.
it's free. and you can use your own fabrics.
details including future updates and YouTube videos.
can be found here on their Jolly Jabber blog.

although i am also using the Aspen Frost collection.
going to switch up where the fabrics are used.
since i already have 2 monthly programs running with FQS.
will be purchasing at my LQS. and on Etsy.
if you like kits. FQS has one you can find here.

Modern BOM 2 Sew Along

block is called "Stained Glass".
hesitant to continue with these colors.
i switched out the pale yellow for a bright yellow.
it needed a softer color. so back to the pale one.
this time i included my feet. a very large block. 24-1/2 in.

this BOM Sew-Along is sponsored by Sew Mama Sew blog.
designed by Alyssa Lichner from Pile o’ Fabric! blog.
